Anita Gradin

Anita Ingegerd Gradin (born August 12, 1933 in Hörnefors , Umeå municipality ) is a Swedish social democratic politician .

Gradin is a qualified social economist and also studied public administration. She worked as a journalist from 1950. From 1967 to 1968 she was government director in the Prime Minister's office. 1992–1994 she was Sweden's ambassador to Austria and Slovenia .

Gradin is married and has one child.

Political party

From 1968 to 1982 she was chairwoman of the Stockholm district in the Social Democratic Women's Association, and from 1975 also 2nd Reich Chairman of the Social Democratic Women's Association.

MPs

Gradin was a member of the Reichstag from 1968 to 1992, a member of the training and finance committee of the Reichstag and a delegate to the Council of Europe .

Public offices

From 1982 to 1986 she was Minister in the Ministry of Labor with special responsibility for immigration and gender equality issues, then until 1991 Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with special responsibility for foreign trade matters.

She was the EU Commissioner for Immigration, Home Affairs and Justice, Relations with the Ombudsman, Financial Control and Fraud Prevention in the Santer Commission from 1995 to 1999.
