The Directorate-General for defense and space ( DEFIS for English Def ence Industry and S pace) is a Directorate General of the European Commission . The Directorate-General, established in 2020, is assigned to Thierry Breton as Commissioner for Internal Market . The Finn Timo Pesonen has been the head of the authority since January 2020 .
