Directorate-General for Research and Innovation

The Directorate-General for Research and Innovation is a division of the European Commission . The Directorate General has the task of defining and implementing a European research and innovation strategy. To this end, it evaluates the national strategies for research and innovation of the member states and makes recommendations to the states. It also promotes outstanding research and innovation in the Horizon 2020 funding program , which also includes the Seventh Research Framework Program.

Jean-Eric Paquet , Director General, has headed the department since 2018. It is the responsibility of the Commissioner for Research and Innovation . It is currently divided into ten directorates.
