Directorate-General for Translation

The Directorate General for Translation of the European Commission (English, Directorate-General for Translation , abbreviation: DGT) is a European agency as a service agency of the European Commission.

The Directorate-General for Translation (DG Translation) is responsible for providing the European Commission with written texts in all the official languages ​​of the European Union . The Directorate General employs around 2500 people (as of 2014) and is based in Brussels and Luxembourg. The employees translate and revise texts from the Commission and its services. Since 2011, Rytis Martikonis has headed the agency as Director General, which has been the responsibility of Commission Vice-President Kristalina Georgiewa since 2014 .
