Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union

The General Taxation and Customs Union ( TAXUD for English Tax ation and Customs U nion D irectorate-General ), the Directorate General of the European Commission responsible for the customs supervision of the EU's external borders and the customs legislation of the European Union as a whole is responsible. The agency's agendas also include the harmonization of customs duties and taxes within the Union, as well as support and improved cooperation between Member States in combating tax evasion . The General Directorate is assigned to Paolo Gentiloni as Commissioner for Taxation and Customs Union . The Greek Gerassimos Thomas has been the head of the authority since August 2020 .
