Rudolf Strohmeier
Rudolf Walter Strohmeier (born December 22, 1952 in Würzburg ) is a German civil servant of the European Union and has been Director General of the Publications Office (OP) of the European Commission since 2016 .
biography
Rudolf Strohmeier attended the Roentgen Gymnasium in Würzburg , completed a degree in economics and law with a second state examination at the University of Munich and was awarded a Dr. iur. PhD.
Strohmeier joined the Bavarian civil service and worked from 1980 to 1985 for the State Representation at the federal level. In 1987 he headed the Bavarian information office in Brussels. First seconded from 1985 to 1987, he joined the European Commission. He was a member of the cabinet of Commissioners Peter Schmidhuber from 1987 to 1995 and Franz Fischler from 1995 to 2000. He then held various positions in the General Directorate for Agriculture. From 2005 to 2010 he was head of cabinet for Commissioner Viviane Reding . He then served as Deputy Director General of the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation until 2016 . He was appointed Head of the Publications Office with effect from May 1, 2016.
