Manfred Rünzler

Manfred Rünzler (born February 24, 1933 in Wolfurt ) is a former Austrian politician ( VGÖ ). From 1984 to 1989 he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament .

education and profession

Between 1939 and 1944, Rünzler attended the Wolfurt elementary school, after which he switched to school at the Bregenz Federal High School until 1948. He then graduated from the Bregenz Commercial School from 1948 to 1950 and joined the office of the Vorarlberg state government as a contract employee in 1951. In 1953 he passed the administrative service examination and was employed in the office of the Bregenz state hydraulic engineering office. In 1956 he moved to a building construction and civil engineering company in Götzis as a construction clerk , and from 1975 he was an authorized signatory there . After being unemployed between 1983 and 1984, he was a professional politician from 1984 to 1989. In 1990 Rünzler retired.

Politics and functions

From 1949 Rünzler became involved with the Catholic Youth, the Catholic Workers 'Movement and the Catholic Workers' Association in Wolfurt, and in 1967 he joined the Austrian People's Party and the ÖAAB . In 1972 he left the ÖVP and in the same year became a board member and chairman of the Vorarlberg regional association of the World Association for the Protection of Life. Subsequently, from 1975 to 1982 he was also general secretary or managing director and from 1982 vice-president of the Austria section of the World Federation for the Protection of Life. After appearing as a spokesperson at events on energy and environmental issues from 1975 onwards, he took part in the founding of the United Greens Austria and Vorarlberg in 1983, ran for the National Council election for the Tollmann VGÖ list and acted as deputy from 1983 to 1989 Chairman or executive chairman and finance officer of the VGÖ regional association Vorarlberg. From 1987 to 1990 he also acted as deputy federal chairman of the VGÖ and between 1983 and 1989 he was state secretary of the VGÖ regional association of Vorarlberg.

As a member of the constituency of Bregenz, he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament from November 5, 1984 to October 23, 1989, during which time he also served as the club chairman of the Alternative List / VGÖ club. He was also a member of the finance committee, member of the legal committee, member of the control committee, member of the emergency committee and member of the ombudsman committee.

From the 1950s onwards, Rünzler was also a member of the supervisory board and chairman of the Rickenbach-Wolfurt consumer cooperative; between 1985 and 1994 he was a member of the environmental protection committee of the Vorarlberg state government and was a member of the board of trustees of the Vorarlberg landscape care fund from 1984 to 1989. He also played drums in several dance bands.

Private

Rünzler was born as the son of the ÖBB official Anton Martin Rünzler and his wife Maria Magdalena Rünzler. He married Margarethe Mayer in 1962 and had three children between 1963 and 1969.
