Mano (unit)
The Mano , also Mao, was a Portuguese unit of measure for paper and can be translated as "hands". It was a smaller unit across from the Ries . The measure was used in the paper trade.
The paper was packed in bales of 32 reams. 1 ream had 17 manos plus 3 arches
A so-called double ream was only about 1 mano larger than the ream. The mano itself had a different number of positions here, and so had exactly
- 1 double row = 18 manos plus 2 arches = 434 arches
- 1 mano = 4 cadernos per 6 arcs = 24 arcs
