Manor House (London Underground)
Manor House is an underground station on the London Underground in the London Borough of Hackney . It is on the border of the Travelcard tariff zones 2 and 3, at the intersection of Seven Sisters Road and Green Lanes. Trains of the Piccadilly Line run here . In 2013, 9.26 million passengers used the station.
The station, named after a nearby pub, opened on September 19, 1932, when the Piccadilly Line was extended from Finsbury Park north to Arnos Grove . Like the other stations in the northern part of the Piccadilly Line, this one was designed by the architect Charles Holden .
In the early years there were separate exits that led up to island stops in the middle of Seven Sisters Road; there operated trams to Tottenham, Edmonton and Stamford Hill. The tram service was stopped in 1938 and replaced by trolleybuses , which could only hold their own for a few years. The exits were bricked up in 1951. Due to the terrorist attacks on July 7, 2005 , the station was closed for a few weeks; it reopened on August 4th.
