Boot seal

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The sleeve seal is used to connect sewer pipes and consists of a rubber elastomer body (mostly ethylene-propylene-diene rubber ) and a group of tensioning bands made of stainless steel , similarly sized hose clamps . In the middle there is a shear band , which absorbs the forces caused by earth and traffic loads and prevents the pipe ends from changing in relation to each other. The boot seal replaces the sleeves -Spitzendverbindung when z. B. is lost through repair or subsequent insertion of a fitting.

Furthermore, in the so-called reconstruction construction, it enables the connection of different pipe materials and / or pipe diameters that do not match in terms of nominal width and / or outer diameter. Colloquially, the cuff seal is also known under the name Canadamanschette, but is z. B. sold under the brand names "Flexseal" or "Mücher".
