Mansfield is a city in Bristol County, Massachusetts , United States .

In 2010, 23,184 people lived in the city, which lies between the suburbs of Boston and the Rhode Islands .

The Mansfield area was settled in 1658 and incorporated in 1775. Compared to other US cities, Mansfield's population has grown only slowly since 1850. The city's library was established in 1884.

The city is led by an elected mayor (currently William R. Ross) and his assessors.

The city has several elementary and middle schools, including special schools that are based on a religion, for example Islam . The city is also home to the Xfinity Center , an event site with an amphitheater that can seat more than 20,000 people.
