biography
society
“El Tronco” Vidrio was trained in the youth department of the CD “Chivas” Guadalajara and received his first professional contract there . On September 15, 1991 he played his first league game in the Mexican Primera División against the Correcaminos de la UAT . After five years with the "Chivas", he spent two year-long guest appearances in Toluca (1996/97 season) and at the Tecos de la UAG (1997/98) before he was "settled" again at CF Pachuca . His coach there was Javier Aguirre for three years , who brought Vidrio back to the national team in 2001 after he was appointed national coach himself. Together they won the Torneo Invierno 1999 and Torneo Invierno 2001 championships .
When Aguirre took on a job at the Basque CA Osasuna after the 2002 World Cup , he took Vidrio with him. Aguirre expected the 30-year-old Vidrio to have the necessary experience that the Osasuna team lacked. But although Vidrio played the first four games in the Spanish Primera División and even scored a goal, his appearances were accompanied by reviews in which he was accused of being too slow, too clumsy and a factor of uncertainty. After that he was only used once and returned during the winter break of the 2002/03 season to his previous employer Pachuca, with whom he won another championship title in the 2003 Apertura . He spent the last season of his active career with the Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz .
National team
Vidrio was used a total of 34 times for the Mexican national soccer team, in 31 cases he acted over the full distance. His international debut took place on June 29, 1993 in Costa Rica (2-0) and was limited to four minutes. In 1993 and 1994 he completed a total of four international matches, but was not nominated for the 1994 Mexican World Cup squad . In 1995 he seemed to make the breakthrough and was used a total of nine times for "el Tri". But his 13th international match against Slovenia (1: 2) on December 6, 1995 was also his last appearance for more than five years. Only when his former club coach at Pachuca, Javier Aguirre, was given the role of head coach of the national team in July 2001, he was taken into account again and made another 21 appearances, including a World Cup participation in 2002 .
At the 2002 World Cup, he played all the preliminary round matches in Mexico in full, as well as the first half of the round of 16 against the USA (0-2) on June 17, 2002, which was also his last international appearance.
His only goal for the national team he achieved on August 23, 2001 in a friendly game played in Mexico against Liberia, which was won 5-4. With his goal in the 74th minute, he had equalized to 4: 4.
