history

Around 1500 a Bartholomäus Löschenkohl immigrated from France to Steinbach an der Steyr ( knife museum Steinbach an der Steyr ). The Steinbach knife memorial accepted the economic refugee. Descendants of the Löschenkohl moved over the Messerer-Gscheid (over the mountain) into the Trattenbachtal in order to use the slope of the brook there. With 14 families, 14 water wheels with the associated workshops were built. The names of the masters were mostly Löschenkohl, Söllner and Wendtner.
