Karl Karst
Karl Karst , also Karl H. Karst (born October 24, 1956 in Cologne ) is a German radio journalist .
Life
Karl Karst studied theater, film and television studies in Cologne and wrote for the features section of the FAZ , the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger and epd medien as well as for the ARD cultural programs until the mid-1980s . In 1985 he got his first editorial position in the radio play department of Bavarian Radio . He soon left this, applied to SWR, stayed there only for a short time, and then in 1999 - inexplicable to observers - from WDR radio director Monika Piel , he became the program director of Kulturwelle WDR 3 . In this function he created the “WDR 3 cultural partnerships” in 2000 and the “Kulturpolitische Forum WDR 3” in 2003, which organizes public debates on cultural policy. In 1991 Karl Karst began to work as a lecturer on hearing at the universities of Cologne, Essen, Leipzig and Siegen. In 2001 the University of Siegen appointed him honorary professor for media studies . Karst has since carried the title in all of his public appearances. As the founder of the nationwide network of the Hören Initiative, he represented WDR and ARD in the German Cultural Council , the German Media Council, the German Music Council and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). Karst left WDR at the end of 2019.
