School of hearing

The School of Hearing project was presented for the first time in 1993 in the Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bonn and was initially designed by Karl Karst as a broadcast series for radio . The public response led to the foundation of the non-profit project group Schule des Hörens eV with 60 founding members from Germany, Austria and Switzerland at the end of 1996 .

The aim of the School of Hearing is to raise public awareness of the art and cultural form of (listening) listening and the necessity of learning to hear. The School of Hearing organizes seminars, organizes lectures, designs training courses, develops target group-specific educational materials, plans and organizes public cultural and educational events in connection with state and federal institutions as well as with public bodies. The School of Hearing played a key role in founding the nationwide umbrella organization Initiative Hören eV .
