The Hören eV initiative is an amalgamation of associations and institutions in the Federal Republic of Germany that publicly represents the importance of hearing and listening to society as a whole and wants to focus attention on the social, educational, health and cultural significance of hearing.

aims

The aim of the association is the comprehensive promotion, care, education and research of hearing and listening. Areas of activity are on the one hand the areas of education , art , culture and media . On the other hand, there are questions of health and consumer protection , such as protection against noise and the prevention and treatment of hearing damage . The effects of noise on the environment and nature are also affected. The treatment of these topics in science and research should be promoted, for example through hearing and communication research . To achieve these goals, the association endeavors to cooperate with state and federal institutions , the press , radio and television , public institutions and self-help organizations . In 2011, the non-profit "Stiftung Hören" was founded to achieve these goals.

activities

One of the activities is the announcement of the nationwide competition “music wins! - Musical life in schools ”, which distinguishes schools in which musical life goes far beyond regular music lessons , as many pupils as possible are involved or which have tried out pioneering models. The initiative is co-organizer of the International Day Against Noise and the Auditorix audio book seal. It documents essays and materials that deal with the topic of hearing in an interdisciplinary manner and offers information brochures on the basics of hearing, voice, listening, hearing protection and building- acute topics.

Ambassadors of the hearing initiative are former Federal Minister for Health and Social Security Ulla Schmidt , the former WDR director Fritz Pleitgen and the cultural scientist Max Fuchs .
