The median Publishing is a publishing house with headquarters in Heidelberg . He specializes in publications on the subject of hearing and gives, among other things, the first for the profession. and the magazine “Hörakustik”, which is still published today. The full name Median-Verlag from Killisch-Horn GmbH goes back to the founder Hans-Jürgen von Killisch-Horn. In 1968 he took over two magazines from Energie-Verlag and thus went into business for himself . Today, Median-Verlag publishes four specialist magazines, a customer magazine, a public magazine and numerous specialist books. The publisher is regularly at the annual congress of the European hearing aid acousticians e. V. (EUHA). Björn Kerzmann has been the publisher's managing director since 2005.

In the 1960s, the profession of hearing aid acoustician arose in Germany and with it a need for the dissemination of relevant specialist information. That is why the magazine “Der Hörgeräte-Akustiker” was developed. It appeared for the first time in 1966 and is the “official organ of the Federal Guild of Hearing Aid Acousticians” (biha). Median-Verlag has been publishing the magazine since it was founded in 1968. In 1987 it was given the current name "Hearing Acoustics". The magazine appears monthly. It is aimed at all hearing aid acousticians in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The content includes current industry news, specialist articles, information on association and industry policy as well as products and corporate management. In addition, the magazine contains extra-occupational information for trainees of the craft at the Academy for Hearing Aid Acoustics (AHA) in Lübeck.

The Median-Verlag also publishes the “Zeitschrift für Audiologie / Audiological Acoustics”. It contains specialist articles for audiologists , i.e. current research results and abstracts of scientific work. The contributions appear partly in English. In addition, the German Society for Audiology (DGA) informs its members about conferences and events. The magazine is published four times a year.

The professional association of German hearing impaired pedagogues (BDH) has been publishing the journal "HörgeschädigtePädagogik" (hearing impaired pedagogy) since 1999. It informs its members about current research results, technical innovations, practical experiences and specialist events. The magazine appears every two months.

Popular magazine

With the magazine “Spectrum Hören”, the publisher has also been issuing a general-interest magazine since 2007. Until then, the Federal Association of Parents and Friends of Hearing Impaired Children e. V. published the magazine. The target group is hearing impaired people and their relatives, especially parents of children with hearing problems, as well as hearing teachers and therapists. The magazine contains articles on knowledge, technology, health and lifestyle. "Spectrum Hearing" has been running since 2011 in cooperation with the German Association for the Hard of Hearing . V. (DSB). The magazine is published six times a year, in February, April, June, August, October and December.

Book range and additional offers

In addition to the periodicals, Median-Verlag is also the publisher of specialist academic books on the subjects of hearing, language, voice and hearing as well as education for the hearing impaired. In 1980 the publishing house was expanded to include a mail order bookshop. Median-Verlag also designs a customer magazine entitled “New Hearing” for hearing aid acousticians and sells advertising materials such as calendars, greeting and greeting cards and posters.
