A portfolio school supports people in preparing for the entrance examination at art and design colleges with portfolio courses . Many portfolio schools also offer basic training in art and design subjects as well as special courses of varying duration and intensity. Folder schools are usually privately run companies and sole proprietorships, but also adult education centers . The costs for the courses vary greatly depending on the location and scope of the training.

Portfolio course

The main component of a portfolio course is the development of an individual presentation portfolio to demonstrate the design-artistic-creative talents of those willing to study for the examination committee.

history

Until the introduction of the Bologna reform ( Bachelor and Master degree programs) in Germany , art colleges offered compulsory preparatory courses or a zero year of study , e.g. B. the art college Burg Giebichenstein . The preliminary courses served the students as basic training, often in the manual sector. Furthermore, the two-year basic artistic training in the art colleges was greatly reduced. This training gap is partially closed by the portfolio schools.
