Portfolio

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A portfolio is a collection of loose sheets of paper that are in a portfolio . The sheets can be original graphics , picture panels or reproductions that have been compiled according to a subject, an artist or an art form. Folders often contain explanatory booklets. A portfolio is often large-format because of the dimensions of the sheets and can itself be an art form.

In contrast to a panel , the components are not firmly connected to one another. The folder, which has an information and protective function, is usually made of cardboard. It can be covered with fabric. Folder and sheets are usually sold, bought, collected and cataloged together. Subscriptions to sheets in folders were widespread in Germany around 1900.

In the arts and bookstores a Mappenwerk is often abbreviated as folder called.
