Mapping Cancer Markers is a World Community Grid project for distributed computing . The aim of the project is on the one hand to identify cancer markers that can help diagnose cancer earlier. On the other hand, it is hoped that high-risk patients will be recognized earlier and a cure for cancer can be found.

Those who take part in the project make the unused computing capacity of their own computer available. To participate, a small program must be downloaded and installed after registering on the World Community Grid website. This is available for Windows , Mac and Linux as part of the BOINC software. It gets a small task package from the website and uploads the results at the end. At the end of the day, the results should be made available to research in the public domain.
