María Consuelo Araújo

María Consuelo Araújo Castro (* 1971 in Valledupar ) is a Colombian politician. Between 2002 and 2006 she was Minister of Culture in Álvaro Uribe's government team . She was appointed Foreign Minister on August 7, 2006, but resigned her position with immediate effect on February 19, 2007 due to the imprisonment of her brother, Senator Alvaro Araújo Castro . Her brother, as well as her father Álvaro Araújo Noguera , are accused of ties to the paramilitaries in Colombia.
