María Elena Valenciano Martínez-Orozco (born September 18, 1960 in Madrid ) is a Spanish politician ( PSOE ).

Live and act

Valenciano attended college but hadn't completed his law or political science degree. She then held a leading position in several non-governmental organizations. She was the coordinator of the European women's lobby in Spain, deputy chairwoman of the Association of Women in Southern Europe and chairwoman of the Mujeres Foundation.

Valenciano has been a member of the board of directors of the PSOE since 2000 and was also a member of the federal committee until 2004. From 1999 to 2009 she was a member of the European Parliament . There she was spokeswoman for the PES group in the subcommittee on human rights. She has been a member of the European Parliament again since July 2014.

Since September 29, 2012, she has been one of the four vice-presidents of the Party of European Socialists .
