Marc Swyngedouw
Marc Swyngedouw (* 1956 ) is a Belgian social scientist .
In 1989 he received his doctorate in social sciences from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven . Today he is professor of political sociology and methodology there. He is also head of the Center for Sociological Research (CESO) at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Director of the Institute for Social and Political Opinion Research (ISPO) at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. In Leuven he initiated the master's program in quantitative analysis in the social sciences .
His main research interests include a. Ethnic Minorities , Public Opinion , Political Sociology, Right-Wing Extremism , Right- Wing Populism, and Comparative Methods . Since 1991 he has been in charge of election studies in Belgium. He is u. a. Member of the Comparative Study of Electoral Systems Group (CSES). As a guest lecturer he was at universities a. a. in Lincoln, Nebraska and in Paris. Swyngedouw is a member of the editorial board of the journal Political Analysis and author of numerous specialist articles.
