Marcel Hassemeier

Marcel Hassemeier (born January 11, 1990 in Oelde ) is a former German rescue athlete .

He was the most successful athlete at the 2013 World Games and was voted “Athlete of the Year” for the Games by online voting .

Like all German gold medalists at the 2013 World Games, Hassemeier was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf by Federal President Gauck on October 25, 2013 .

Marcel Hassemeier swam for the DLRG Schwerte and was an A-team athlete of the German Federal Rescue Team . In 2014 he ended his sporting career due to a hand injury.
