Marcelo Escolar
Marcelo Escolar (* before 1981) is an Argentine social scientist and professor of geography at the University of Buenos Aires .
Escolar studied at the University of Buenos Aires from 1981 to 1986, where he obtained his doctorate in geography in 1993. He earned further degrees in philosophy and literature before becoming director of the Institute of Geography of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Buenos Aires.
His research interests are social history of geography, political geography, cultural epistemology and sociology of geographical knowledge. Escolar made an important contribution to a research program on the history of geography and geography in Argentina and was the coordinator of the reform program of the autonomous city of Buenos Aires.
