Eugenio Saini

Eugenio Saini (born January 30, 1939 in Milan , † January 16, 2009 ) was an Italian enduro athlete .

Career

Eugenio Saini started motor sports in 1952. In 1957 he won a speed competition in Bergamo with a 50 cc motorcycle. In 1958 he was a member of a team that set a world speed record over 24 hours on the Autodromo Nazionale Monza race track .

In 1960 he was a member of the victorious Italian silver vase team at the International Six-Day Tour in Austria. He rode a Gilera 98. The following year he won the Valli Bergamasche off-road race .

In 1963 he was Italian enduro champion in the class up to 125 cm³ with a Moto Guzzi . He was able to repeat this success in 1966 with a Gilera .

Between 1960 and 1971 he took part in the International Six-Day Race nine times and won eight gold and one silver medal.

After his active career, he was head of the motorsport group of the Italian police Fiamme Oro for several years .
