Marché du film

The Marché du film (lit. film market) is the business equivalent of the Cannes Film Festival and one of the largest film markets in the world.

Founded in 1959, it takes place annually in conjunction with the Festival de Cannes.

With 11,800 participants from 108 countries, the number of participants at the 2013 Marché du film grew by 4% compared to 2012. In 2013, 5364 films were presented. The share of documentaries increased by 35% in 2013, 850 documentaries were presented, 643 of which were completed. 323 of these films have been added to the Doc Corner digital video library .

The 2014 edition of the Marché du film is scheduled for May 14-23, 2014.

history

With the growing success of the Festival de Cannes in the 1950s, the Marché du film was founded in 1959 to better meet the needs of the film industry.

As part of the Marché du Film, special events are held exclusively for the producers, including the Producer Network and the Producers Workshop .

Features and offers

A number of features and other offers, as well as services, will be made available during the Marché du film for the benefit of producers, directors, festival organizers, sales representatives and other filmmakers.

Cinando

Cinando, the professional film database during the Marché du film

The Marché du film works with Cinando, the largest professional database in the film industry, which contains information on contacts, film projects in development, sales offers for films and schedules of upcoming festivals. Cinando is a partner of major film events such as the Berlinale , the Toronto International Film Festival , and the American Film Market .

Producers Network

The Producers Network gathers 550 producers from around the world at a series of meetings and events. Created to stimulate international co-productions and project funding, this event was specially designed for producers. The events include breakfast meetings , in which around 200 experts and producers take part in discussions.

Producers workshop

The Producers Workshop is a program designed for producers and filmmakers who have little or no experience with the Marché du film and the Festival de Cannes or on the international stage. The workshop features a series of two-day sessions conducted by respected specialists on a variety of topics including international co-production, international sales, marketing experience and much more. The result sought is to help producers and filmmakers to achieve their goals in the international market and to develop the best for their participation in the Marché du film and the Festival de Cannes.

Village International

As a place of encounter and exchange, the Village International is a collection of pavilions in which countries from all over the world present their cinema, their cultures and institutions in order to promote them.

Doc Corner

Due to the increased number of documentaries presented at the Marché du Film, Doc Corners was founded in 2012 to offer buyers and festival organizers a digital video library of film titles from the Marché. The special room is also used for special events and meetings during the Festival de Cannes.

Cross Media Corner

The Cross Media Corner, founded in 2013, serves as a source of inspiration for the film, it is a place where trade visitors can experiment with projects with cross-media content on screens .
