Marcus Sempronius Liberalis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Marcus Sempronius Liberalis was a member of the Roman knighthood ( Eques ) living in the 2nd century AD .

A military diploma proves that Liberalis 129/130 was in command of the Ala Tauriana civium Romanorum , which was stationed in the province of Mauretania Tingitana at the time. Further diplomas, e.g. Some of them are dated October 30, 139, prove that he was governor of the province of Raetia from 139 to at least November or December 140 . By papyri , one of which is dated 29 August 154, it is proved that he 154-159 governor ( Praefectus Aegypti ) the province of Aegyptus was.

Liberalis came from Acholla in what is now Tunisia.
