from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Marcus Valerius Chalcidicus was a member of the Roman knighthood ( Eques ) living in the 2nd century AD .

An inscription that was found at the Carvium fort and that is dated to AD 171/190 shows that Chalcidicus was prefect of the Cohors II Civium Romanorum , which was stationed in the province of Germania inferior . According to Jan Kees Haalebos , Chalcidicus assumed command of the unit probably around 175.
