Marcus Vinicius († 46 AD ) was a Roman politician in the 1st century AD.

His grandfather of the same name was consul in 19 BC. His father Publius Vinicius was consul in 2 AD. The younger Marcus Vinicius became consul ordinarius ( consul at the beginning of the year) in 30 AD. He married Iulia Livilla , a daughter of Germanicus , in 33 and thus became part of the imperial family related by marriage. Under Caligula he was 38/39 proconsul of the province of Asia . Vinicius, whose wife was exiled by Caligula, was involved in the murder of the emperor and had ambitions to rule. After taking part in the conquest of Britain by the new emperor Claudius , Vinicius was consul ordinarius for the second time . At the instigation of the Emperor Messalina , he was murdered the following year.

Velleius Paterculus dedicated his history to Vinicius on the occasion of his first consulate.
