The first MARGA business game competition was held in 1971. This business simulation competition is a business simulation . The participants act in a team as the company board and get to know business management relationships. The organizers of the competition were the then University Seminar of Economics ( USW for short ) and the Handelsblatt publishing group .

The Marga business game competition has been held annually since 1971, today under the umbrella of Marga Business Simulations GmbH. The USW was integrated into the European School of Management and Technology in 2002 . This is still involved in the company Marga Business Simulations. The company is based on the Schloss Gracht campus in Erftstadt . This is where the final of today's online business game competition (at that time remote business game) has been taking place since it was first held.
