Sebastian Reinthaller

Sebastian Reinthaller (born November 1962 in Vienna ) is an Austrian opera singer ( tenor ) and theater director .

Life

Reinthaller initially trained as a hotel clerk and enrolled to study architecture . Then he decided to pursue a stage career and completed the opera class at the Vienna Conservatory. In 1985 he took singing lessons from Charlotte Sentous . He made his debut as Ferrando in Mozart's Così fan tutte at the Stadttheater Baden near Vienna. After a year at the Stadttheater St. Pölten in Lower Austria and a year at the Stadttheater Luzern , he was engaged by Eberhard Waechter at the Vienna Volksoper in 1991 , where he sings to this day, but he also made his debut at the Vienna State Opera in 1995 (with the helmsman in the Flying Dutchman ). Guest performances have taken him to Graz, Klagenfurt and Salzburg and other European countries, but also to Israel, Japan and America.

Reinthaller is also active as a song interpreter, especially with works by Franz Schubert , Franz Liszt and Richard Strauss .

In 2014 he took over the artistic direction of the Baden stage for five years . At the beginning of 2016, however, he announced that he would be resigning from management early in 2017.

Honors

  • In 2009 Reinthaller was awarded the professional title “Chamber singer of the Republic of Austria” by Art Minister Claudia Schmied .
