The Margalla Hills are a series of hills in northern Islamabad in Pakistan . They are located directly behind the Faisal Mosque , the largest mosque in the world, and are particularly suitable for hiking or visiting the city. The best time for this is winter, when there is little rain and the days are more pleasant in terms of temperature.

Flora and fauna

The hilly landscape is particularly interesting for hikers because of its flora and fauna. The forested hills are one of the last examples of the western Himalayan evergreen forest. The fauna includes the Indian leopard , the rhesus monkey and the gray goral . The avifauna is rich in this area.
