Margarita Starkevičiūtė

Margarita Starkevičiūtė (born March 15, 1956 in Jenisseisk ) is a Lithuanian politician, member of the European Parliament (2004-2009) for the Liberalų ir centro sąjunga and a member of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe .

Life

Starkevičiūtė graduated from the Faculty of Industrial Economics of Vilnius University (VU) with a degree in economics in 1978 and obtained a PhD in social sciences (economics) from VU in 2001. She worked as a senior expert at the State Institute of Services and Publications from 1979 to 1988, and from 1990 to 1995 she worked as a senior expert and advisor for foreign investments in the Ministry of Health of Lithuania , the Ministry of Agriculture of Lithuania and the Ministry of Construction and Urbanism of Lithuania .

From 1994 to 2001, Starkevičiūtė worked at the National Stock Exchange and the Central State Securities Depository as head of the market analysis department and head of the research group. In addition, Starkevičiūtė taught between 1996 and 2001 as a lecturer and from 2002 to 2004 as an associate professor at the International School of Business Administration at VU ( VU TVM ).

In 2003 Starkevičiūtė was a member of the editorial board of the business magazine " Lietuvos ekonomikos apžvalga ".
