Maria Creuza

Maria Creuza (born February 26, 1944 in the state of Bahia , Brazil ) is an important Brazilian singer.

Born in the hinterland of Bahia State, her family moved to Salvador when Maria was a child. As a teenager she was already a singer in several bands, at the same time she worked for various radio stations with such great success that she even got her own show on local television ( Encontro com Maria Creuza - meeting with Maria Creuza ). Her idol was the singer Maysa , whom she emulated especially at the beginning of her career.

Creuza achieved national fame through her participation in festivals, where she often appeared together with the duo Antônio Carlos & Jocafi ; in 1969 she received the Best Artist Award. In the 1970s she often sang with Toquinho and Vinicius de Moraes and recorded a few records. During this time, Creuza became the favorite interpreter of Vinicius de Moraes, who actively supported her career. She says of herself that she is an intuitive singer who values ​​what the composer has to say.
