Maria Szraiber
Maria Szraiber is a Polish pianist and music teacher.
Szraiber studied at the Bytom Conservatory with Wanda Chmielowska and with Bolesław Woytowicz at the Katowice State Conservatory . She continued her studies at the Moscow Conservatory with Tatjana Nikolajewa and Rudolf Kerer .
As a concert pianist, Szraiber has performed in Poland and other European countries, in the USA, China, Japan, South Korea and Australia and made numerous recordings. The focus of her repertoire is on the works of Frédéric Chopin and Claude Debussy .
Szraiber is a professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. She also heads the piano department at Warsaw University , where she was dean of the piano, harpsichord and organ department from 1993 to 1999. She also acts as a juror at international piano competitions and gives master classes at home and abroad. Her concert lecture series Nestors of Polish Piano Playing became well known .
