Mariann Sæther

Mariann Sæther (born September 25, 1980 in Lillehammer ) is a Norwegian canoeist who is one of the world's best in extreme kayak and kayak freestyle.

Mariann Sæther started canoeing at the age of 17. At the first Plattling Canoe Festival, she was able to take third place behind Jutta Kaiser . In competitions and races she has since achieved several top places; she celebrated victories in the Voss Extreme Race in 2004 and 2007 , as well as in 2004 in the Sweet Boatercross in her Norwegian homeland; In 2005 she won the Level Six Cup in Ottawa . At the 2007 World Cup in Canada , she reached eighth place.

In 2003 she was part of the team that was the first to kayak down the Norwegian rivers Lomsdalen (from source to mouth) and Utla. Also that year she was the first woman to paddle down the Rio Baker and in 2005 the Rio Pascua in Chile . She was also the first woman to kayak the Norwegian waterfalls in the Laksforsen River and the Big Girl Falls in the Eidsåa River.
