Marie Hager House
The Marie-Hager-Haus is a museum in Burg Stargard , which is dedicated to the memory and work of the painter Marie Hager (1872–1947). The listed building is located at Dewitzer Chaussee 17 .
Hager had got to know Burg Stargard at various painting courses that her teachers like Eugen Bracht led here. In 1921 she had a house built there, which was the center of her life and work until the end of her life. Her niece, Wiltrud Kratz, inherited her property and in 1991 she transferred the house and property as well as various furniture and pictures to the town of Burg Stargard. The donation was based on the establishment of a permanent exhibition on Marie Hager's work in the house.
The Marie-Hager-Kunstverein Burg Stargard operates the house as a museum and gallery. The exhibition opened in 1996. Marie Hager's works are on the lower floor. In the gallery on the upper floor, works by artists from the region are shown in changing exhibitions. In continuation of the tradition of the "Stargarder Painting School", painting courses are given in the house.
