Marian award

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Marian Medal , also known as Marian Award , is a Russian award for women. It was donated by Tsar Nikolaus on October 14, 1828 .

Order classes

The order had two classes.

Only offices and institutes with the direct influence of Maria Feodorewna were taken into account. The first class was given to leading women who had served in these functions for 25 and more years. The second grade had to prove at least fifteen years of office.

Order decoration

The order decoration was different for the classes. The first class consisted of a gold, blue enameled cross with Maria Feodorewna's signature and a branch of laurel. In the middle of this were the years of service in Roman numerals.

The second grade had a blue medallion with the name and number.

Ribbon and way of wearing

The ribbon of the Order of Vladimir was used. The ladies wore the 1st class decoration on a sash and the 2nd class decoration on their chest.

The order could never be withdrawn again.
