The Marienheim Wiener Neustadt was a retirement home of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Love in the city of Wiener Neustadt in Lower Austria . The former monastery building is a listed building .

Since 2017, the nursing home has been continued by Marienhof Wohngemeinschaften GmbH in a new building at Komarigasse 8.

history

Sisters of Mercy of the III. Order of St. Franziskus took over the nursing in the city hospital in 1882 and from 1889 to 1978 also nursed in the Wiener Neustadt hospital . In the immediate vicinity of the hospital, the order built the Marienheim in 1904 as an old people's home.

architecture

The elongated, three-and-a-half-storey building with three four-storey risalits, located on the courtyard side, has closely spaced and partly coupled arched windows on the main facade with exposed brickwork. Structural elements of the facade such as the corner blocks, pilaster strips, cornices and window frames are smoothly plastered. The monastery chapel is two storeys high on the central risalit. Francis , a rectangular building with a semicircular apse and a flat gable roof.
