A narrow, square base stands on a high substructure made up of several rectangular parts. Above it a round column with a Corinthian capital. There are inscriptions on the front of the base. A metal fence was built around the statue.

The sculpture of Mary, standing on a cloud above the capital, holds the Christ child on the left arm and a lily in the right arm (in the form of a lily scepter or lily staff). The left leg is a supporting leg, the right a free leg. Around the head of Mary there is a wreath of stars and originally a ray of light around the whole figure. There is a halo around the child's head. The sculpture is 120 centimeters high and weighs 200 kilograms. Your gaze is directed towards Schlossstrasse (ulica Zamkowa) and the castle .

The artist of the statue is unknown.

history

The Oberglogau Marian column was erected in 1677 on the north side of the ring and was probably donated by Count Franz Eusebius von Oppersdorff (1623–1691). According to the inscription on the base, the monument was restored in 1837. In 1937 the statue of Mary was removed due to a planned renovation and brought to Wroclaw. After the Second World War, it was placed in the nearby cemetery of Sobótka ( Zobten am Berge ) and rediscovered in 1968. In 1969 it was brought back to Oberglogau, but the communist administration refused to display it on the ring, so the sculpture was placed on the Franciscan Church. In 2003 the column with the restored statue of Mary returned to the ring.
