Marilyn Scott (gospel singer)

Marilyn Scott (also Mary Deloatch ) is a former American gospel , blues , and rhythm & blues singer.

Scott recorded a number of gospel numbers between 1945 and 1951 such as "I'll Ride On a Cloud With My Lord", "Rumors of War" ( Savoy Records 4039) and "The New Gospel Street" ( Regent Records 1034); under the pseudonym Mary Deloatch , she also sang lewd R&B and blues songs like "Let's Do the Boogie Woogie", which were written between 1943 and 1953. She was accompanied by the Johnny Otis Orchestra on the single “Beer Bottle Boogie” / “Uneasy Blues” (Regent 1025) . Her blues singing was based on the rural Piedmont Blues ; her gospel singing to Sister Rosetta Tharpe .
