The Naval Air Squadron 4 ( MFG 4 ) was a helicopter squadron of the German Navy with the location Holtenau . Between 1963 and 1968 it consisted of a squadron (1./MFG 4) and took over the area of ​​submarine hunting, mine detection and clearance tasks.

history

The MFG 4 was set up on September 1, 1963. Administratively, technically and economically, 1./MFG 4 was affiliated with Marinefliegergeschwader 5 (MFG 5). With this season, the first tactical procedures in interaction with floating units were tested.

Helicopters of the type SH 34J and SU 34D were used, which had a total of almost 4,300 flight hours in use.

MFG 4 was dissolved in 1968 as a result of medium-term financial planning and the helicopters were assigned to MFG 5.
