history
The MFG 4 was set up on September 1, 1963. Administratively, technically and economically, 1./MFG 4 was affiliated with Marinefliegergeschwader 5 (MFG 5). With this season, the first tactical procedures in interaction with floating units were tested.
Helicopters of the type SH 34J and SU 34D were used, which had a total of almost 4,300 flight hours in use.
MFG 4 was dissolved in 1968 as a result of medium-term financial planning and the helicopters were assigned to MFG 5.
