Mario Medina (born September 2, 1952 ) is a retired Mexican soccer player whose regular position was in attacking midfield .

Life

Mario Medina received his first professional contract in the 1972/73 season with Toluca FC , with whom he won the championship in the 1974/75 season and in which he was under contract until the 1980/81 season. He then moved to the capital for the CD Cruz Azul , where he was used only four times in the 1981/82 season and ended his active career in the same season.

National team

Medina made his debut in the dress of the Mexican national team in a friendly game played on August 3, 1975 in the USA, which was lost 1-0 to the GDR. His last international appearance was in the unexpected 4-0 defeat against New Zealand on August 20, 1980.

Medina scored his two international goals in November 1979 in the games against Peru (1-0) and Finland (1-1).

The highlight of his international career was the nomination for the World Cup squad of the Mexicans , in which Medina was not used.
