Maritime Identification Digits

The Maritime Identification Digits (MID) are the marine radio code that identifies the home country of a marine radio station in the GMDSS .

Systematics

The MID are part of the number of the mobile marine radio service MMSI (Maritime Mobile Service Identity) of the marine radio station.

They are also part of the ATIS ( Automatic Transmitter Identification System ) used in inland navigation to identify radio stations .

Each country, according to the ITU Radio Regulations assigned one or more Seefunkkennzahlen (Radio Regulations, Eng .: Radio Regulations, RR). So has z. B. Germany the maritime radio codes 211 and 218 (formerly GDR), Austria the maritime radio code 203 and Switzerland the maritime radio code 269.

The MID is listed at the beginning of each country section in the Nautical Radio Service Manual .
