Nautical radio service

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nautical Radio Service (NF) is a publication of the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH). It contains information about marine radio and special services such as NAVTEX , location and weather information. The Nautical Radio Service, Volumes I to IV, was discontinued in this form on June 30, 2000. Now the Nautical Radio Service appears as a one-volume work. The nautical radio service contains frequencies and transmission times of all coastal radio stations, NAVTEX and radio stations for receiving weather reports, warning messages or sending emergency calls.

A reduced edition for motor and sailing yachts at sea is the radio service for small and sport shipping , formerly known as the yacht radio service . While marine radio equipment is largely required for commercial shipping (see also SOLAS ), sport and leisure shipping is largely free to participate in radio and information services. Equipment is only required for charter yachts with a length of more than 12 m.

The weekly news for seafarers (NfS) and an online reporting service of the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency ensure that the information is always up to date.
