News for seafarers

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nachrichten für Seefahrer ( NfS ) informs the skippers weekly about important events in the German territorial sea and the German Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) as well as in the neighboring areas of the neighboring countries. They are published as a series by the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH).

history

Since 1870, information for the shipping industry has been verifiably published under the title Messages for Seafarers . Initially as a supplement to the Hydrographic Communications , about four years later as an independent publication. Since about 1881 they have been published weekly in magazine form.

description

In the NfS, important events, changes and measures - especially on the maritime waterways - in the German territorial sea and the German Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) as well as in the adjacent areas of the neighboring countries are announced. This allows nautical publications such as nautical charts and nautical manuals to be kept up to date . The NfS appear weekly and bilingual in German and English.

Less important changes are not published by the NfS, but only with a new edition e.g. B. a nautical chart.

The NfS are based on the Notices for Seafarers (BfS), which are issued by the Waterways and Shipping Offices and contain all important changes.

structure

The booklets are divided into four sections:

  • Part 1 map corrections
  • Part 2 manual corrections

Comparable publications

All seafaring nations publish comparable news. Some of the texts are mutually adopted. The articles in the other wiki language versions mostly describe these national equivalents.
