Sea shipping route

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Germany, waterways are referred to as maritime shipping routes , on which the Maritime Shipping Route Regulations (SeeSchStrO) apply.

This includes the following areas of water:

  • the water areas between the coastline at medium high tide or the seaward boundary of the inland waterways and a line three nautical miles away from the baseline ,
  • the continuously by visual signs of Lateralsystems water areas the seaward parts of the designated fairway and
  • the bodies of water between the banks of some adjacent inland waterways and canals. These include B. the Lower Elbe from Oortkaten (km 607.50), the Lower Weser including the lower Hunte (24.63 km) and the Kiel Canal .

Traffic rules

The rules of the collision avoidance rules (KVR) apply on sea waterways, unless the Sea Waterways Regulations expressly state otherwise. For example, there are some deviations from the collision avoidance rules on the maritime waterways.

Right-hand drive

"A vessel following the direction of a narrow fairway [a maritime waterway is to be regarded as such, author's note] or a fairway must stay as close to the outer edge of the fairway or the fairway on its starboard side as this is possible without danger. "

Right of way

Vessels that follow the course of a fairway on a sea waterway and that do not deviate from the course by more than 10 ° in any direction are considered to be non-stop shipping. Continuous shipping has right of way over vehicles that cross the fairway (i.e. deviate more than 10 ° from the fairway), enter the fairway or turn in the fairway.

fog

The rules of the Maritime Road Regulations always apply on maritime waterways, even in fog.

Bottlenecks

At fairways that are too narrow for two vehicles to pass through at the same time, the right of way is regulated as follows:

  • In tidal waters with currents, the vehicle that drives with the current has right of way;
  • In tidal waters without a current, the vehicle that has previously driven against the current has right of way;
  • In tide-free waters without a current, the vessel that has to use the starboard side of the fairway has right of way .

Driving license required

All drivers of pleasure boats who use their pleasure craft, which has an engine output of more than 11.03 kW, on German maritime waterways, must be in possession of a pleasure craft license for the sea .
