Announcements for seafarers
The Announcements for Seafarers (BfS) are an information service for maritime shipping. The Federal Waterways and Shipping Offices (WSA) publish changes to shipping signs , signal systems or the course of the fairway itself there at short notice .
construction
The series of the BfS is numbered consecutively and begins each year with number 1. The announcement begins with the number, the issuing shipping office and the date. The following descriptive title first lists the place of change from large to small, followed by the subject of the announcement.

Around 100 notices are issued in the area of the WSA Hamburg each year.

The announcements are published on the Internet as a PDF.
Announcements for seafarers have been recorded under this title in port cities since the 19th century, either as independent publications or as headings in newspapers, or both. Later the publication took place at various notice points (for example in showcases at locks or barrages ). Since December 1, 2003, they have also been published on the Internet at “www.elwis.de”. As of January 1, 2019, the notice boards were closed, since then the BfS has only been available on the Internet.
Basis for "Messages for Seafarers"
The BfS serve the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) as a source for the creation of the weekly “News for Seafarers” (NfS) . In the NfS, important long-term news for shipping is published to correct the official nautical charts , sea books and beacon lists .
