Mark Dominik Alscher

Mark Dominik Alscher (born August 2, 1963 in Stuttgart ) is a German internist , medical director of the Robert Bosch Hospital GmbH Stuttgart and professor at the University of Tübingen . He is known for his work in the fields of peritoneal dialysis , acute kidney failure and expert medical systems .

Life

Alscher studied medicine from 1984 to 1990 in Freiburg. His doctorate was in 1990 with the topic: "Iron, copper and zinc concentrations in the liver and their significance for computer tomographic liver density measurements" (magna cum laude). He then moved to the Robert Bosch Hospital (RBK) Stuttgart, Department of Gastroenterology . In 1992 he was approved. He completed his internist training with rotations in gastroenterology, cardiology , hematology and nephrology. In 1996 Alscher worked at the RBK in the department for general internal medicine and nephrology. The following year he completed his specialist training in internal medicine and was appointed senior physician in 1998. From 1998 he worked at the Beth Israel Deaconess / Harvard Medical School and at the University of Colorado Health Science Center, both USA. He received the field designation nephrologist (2002) and hypertensiology (2004). In 2003 he received his habilitation at the University of Tübingen and in 2004 he was appointed senior physician. In 2007 Alscher took over the provisional management of the emergency room at the RBK. The University of Tübingen appointed him an extraordinary professor in 2008. In the same year he became chief physician of the emergency room and the department of general internal medicine and nephrology at the RBK, in 2009 medical director of the entire clinics at the RBK and in 2016 managing medical director (managing director of Robert-Bosch-Krankenhaus GmbH).

Scientific contribution

Alscher has worked in the area of ​​peritoneal dialysis in particular, systematically working on the clinical picture of encapsulating peritoneal dialysis. The mortality, which was previously 85%, was reduced to 19.4% in the treated patients. Another focus is on medical expert systems, the analysis of which, together with colleagues from the USA and Sweden, has led to some work. Alscher has organized several symposia and annual congresses, the annual meeting of the Southwest German Society for Internal Medicine 2014 in Stuttgart and the annual meeting of the German Society for Nephrology in Berlin 2016 should be mentioned.
